Ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sacs in or on the surface of an ovary.

Ovarian cysts develop in many women at some time during their lives. Most ovarian cysts disappear without treatment within 8-12 weeks.

Majortity of ovarian cysts present little or no discomfort and are harmless.

Ovarian cysts may rupture causing pain, nausea and vomiting. 

It is prudent to know the symptoms of ovarian cysts and to schedule regular Pelvic Examinations and Ultrasound.
